IT'S been nine years since a schoolie was arrested while celebrating in Yeppoon.

On the Gold Coast, 99 arrests were made in just six days this week a and police are saying that is the best Schoolies yet.

But they have nothing on manager of the Rockhampton PCYC Sergeant Greg Jones who is a stalwart in organising activities for the Schoolies celebrations each year at Yeppoon.

He and his youth management teams a consisting of young, PCYC members from around the region, including Emerald, and local police have an astonishing track record of keeping schoolies safe, entertained and trouble-free.

Sergeant Jones yesterday said some of the 250 teens who converged on the sleepy beach town travelled from as far away as the Sunshine Coast.

He said the students were aalwaysa well behaved, even when they weren't participating in organised Schoolies activities like competitions, music and party events which ran from Sunday to Wednesday. …
