Smyth Riding High in the Saddle; Equestrian Star Enjoys Stellar Year on the Australian Scene

EQUESTRIAN: Alton Downs rider Nelson Smyth can only be satisfied with his record for 2011.

The rising equestrian rider has enjoyed a brilliant year which has seen him climb the national rankings and claim a position in the top five for Australia.

Smyth was a winner of the first two rounds of the three-round Young Riders competition on his Salute Mare Brown Eyed Girl and has finished fourth overall in Australia.

He didn't do too bad on his second horse either.

Smyth's number two horse Classic Mischief also finished in the top 12 in Australia in a class of the top 65 professional Young riders aged 16 to 21 years which was held at Dubbo.

He also had a top 10 finish in the open 1.3m class.

These results came on top of some great finishes through the year which included Young Riders Championships event at the EKKA and at the National Young Rider Series at the World Cup Caboolture in August. …
