GOLF: Some long-range bombs with the flat stick, astute tactics and a touch of class from three-time European Tour winner Peter O'Malley propelled Robina Woods to victory at the 2011 Holden Scramble Championship final at Twin Waters yesterday.

The Gold Coast outfit, which had to win its club championship and advance through regional qualifying at Palm Meadows just to make it to the final, led from start to finish during the three-day tournament.

C[pounds sterling]There were some really long putts each day. We probably holed a couple of 30-metre putts each round, which kept our momentum going,C[yen] club professional Corey Taylor said.

C[pounds sterling]Even our higher handicaps still putted pretty well and we sent them out first, so even if they didn't make the putt they gave us a really good read on it.
