IT SEEMS as if summer turned into winter in a hurry and even the fish were taken by surprise.

The wind and rain put a bit of a stop to fishing with the only bright spot being last Sunday.

Mark Romond of Sawtell made the most of it and set out to dangle a line. Mark came up with the best bream of the week at 1.025kg.

The week's winning luderick, and it was nice to see one of those on the list after a bit of a drought, went to R. Mills of Coffs.

The 650g fish was caught at the mouth of Boambee Creek after it took a liking to a small sprig of cabbage.

Very quiet in the flathead department with only the odd fish turning up. John Preston did manage to land one down Mylestom way with the fish weighing in at 1.8kg. A good couple of fish fingers there, John.

Whiting still seem to be the number one species with the freshwater pushing them out onto the beaches. …
