A VORTEX of greed. That's how one long-term Moranbah local has described the rampant development of his town.

Michael Lewer, who grew up in Moranbah, said it was disheartening to see his old home town like it is today.

But his main concern is not for the town at all. It is for his elderly father who has lived at Moranbah Village Caravan Park for the past 25 years.

He now faces an uncertain future with the park soon to be upgraded and expanded.

Bill Lewer, 63, is on a disability pension and has been told his home needs to be relocated to make way for development of the park.

C[pounds sterling]They are taking down our homes and putting in these dongas,C[yen]

C[pounds sterling]But Dad's been good about it, he asks me where I'm going to stay when I'm out there.

C[pounds sterling]There's nowhere in Moranbah for him, minimal rent there is $2000 a week.C[yen]

But Moranbah Village Caravan Park owner Scott Wilson said as the town grew he needed to upgrade his park and some caravans needed to be relocated. …
