CHAIRMAN Austin Carney is "over the moon" at the progress which Durham City have made on and off the field since the start of the season.

He said: "It's no secret that we had big problems. Manager Lee Collings left and we put Dickie Ord in sole charge.

"Things needed to be stabilised and I'm pleased to say that everything has gone very well.

"I know we are now 12th in the Evo-Stik League Division One North but only a few weeks ago we were up to third. "Dickie won the manager of the month award in October and the side was awarded the Fair Play Award in November, so I've got to be happy.

"You could say the half-term report is good and that the underlying trends both on the pitch and behind the scenes are all moving in the right direction.

"Recently, we had 40 guests at a Sponsors Evening. We haven't a lot of chimney pots surrounding the ground but what we do have in the city are a lot of businesses and I'm pleased to say that already some are on board with us. …
