Another Three in Poland for Brits; SWIMMING

HANNAH MILEY, Jemma Lowe and Michael Jamieson took Great Britain's final medal haul from the European Short Course Championships in Szczecin, Poland to nine.

Lowe and Miley were each winning their second medal of the meet, with Jess Dickons, Georgia Davies, Amy Smith and Joe Roebuck also on the podium over the first three days of the competition.

Jamieson secured Britain's fifth bronze of the week to add to four silvers, an encouraging tally for national performance director Michael Scott and his team.

Miley took silver in the 400 metres individual medley, her time of four minutes 26.06 seconds leaving her a second and a half behind Spain's Mireia Belmonte Garcia, who was also victorious when Miley was third in Thursday's 200m event.

The Scot said: "It's always hard to swim on the last day but I'm so happy with that.

"I knew if Mireia got too far away before the freestyle leg I'd have a struggle but I kept with her. I'm not a strong short course swimmer but that will do my long course the world of good. …
