An Outstanding Year for Ford; ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE

THIS year has been outstanding for Ford. Wellknown in the region, Ford Aerospace Limited and Ford Component Manufacturing Limited specialises in the precision machining and pressing of components and assemblies for industries including the aerospace, defence and industrial markets.

The South Tyneside company is flying high as we head towards 2012. Not only has it added a string of awards to its trophy cabinet, but both Ford companies have gone from strength-to-strength with lucrative contracts, new export markets and the launch of further Ford branded products. We take a look back at some of their highlights.

The start of the year saw Ford begin its 101st year in business, having celebrated its centenary in 2010. No sooner had a glass been raised to 2011 then Ford was picking up a number of awards. The Culture for Success Awards are designed to showcase the expertise, talent and passion of companies in the North East, recognising businesses who show they have a culture that fosters success in all areas of their business.

It was Ford's dedication to its workforce which clinched the win in the Large Company category when the judges witnessed for themselves the attitude of employees and their commitment to the company.

Hot on the heels of their first win was success at the North East Exporter Awards where Ford Aerospace scooped the Gateway to Global Growth Award in recognition of its achievements in the Chinese export market with the Ford brand of laminated shim stock, 'easipeel'.

Next in line came commitment to training with Ford Aerospace picking up the training award for Medium-Sized Company of the Year at the annual TDR Training Awards; while both companies were jointly awarded runners-up in the hotly contended Skills Training category of EEF's Future Manufacturing Awards.

The final accolade was attributed to Chair of Ford, Geoff Ford MBE. This time the man, widely referred to as Mr South Tyneside, was recognised with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the North East Business Executive of the Year Awards. The honour is bestowed on individuals who have demonstrated a huge commitment to business in the North East and Geoff has been no exception. …
