CHICKS dig scars. Or so the unruly teenage boys used to fool themselves as they squared off for another round of football.

But on occasions you would find a group of girls who distanced themselves from their sideline- cemented female peers, in search of their own adventures. Girls like me.

Almost two decades on and my limbs read like a complex Braille collection of stories and adventures, from across the world and of the soul.

And so it was while I and two other intrepid female tourists took an unaccommodating detour through the thick scrub in Tasmania's Freycinet Peninsula for a toilet break, that I received my latest addition.
