Dentist Gets Teeth into Art; since Moving to Australia from the UK, Jivan Has Taken His Keen Eye out of Surgery into the World, Writes Kristy Muir

DOCTOR Rakesh Jivan may spend his days looking at teeth through a magnifying glass but looking at the world through the lens of his camera is what he loves most.

The Coast dentist of Avenue Dental Kawana is part of an ever growing band of amateur photographers with an appetite for capturing moments of truth, passion and beauty through art.

Dr Jivan said he had always loved photography but had been maily involved in dental photos.

But since moving to Australia earlier this year from the UK he had taken his keen eye out of the surgery and into the world.

He said he loved exploring the Coast and surrounding areas, documenting everything he saw.

His favourite subjects are the beach at night, thunderstorms, sunrises and sunsets.

aThe Coast is so different from the UK. I capture as much of the Coast as I can,a he said.

It took Dr Jivan 12 years to get back to Australia after he fell in love with the country on holidays.

He said he spent one night in Mooloolaba and knew he wanted to move to the Coast.

aIt is a gorgeous place to live,a he said.

The move was prompted after running his own practice in the UK for four years and not having much of a work-life balance. …
