TWO men have been charged with shoplifting after an earlymorning crackdown on Christmas crooks.

The men, both aged 30, were collared by police at addresses in Redcar yesterday morning then later charged with the alleged offences.

A 24-year-old man from Loftus was bailed pending further inquiries while three others were arrested but released without further action. A woman in Guisborough was given a caution for possession of cannabis while a 22-year-old man arrested at St Mary's Court in Grangetown was still being questioned on suspicion of theft and drug-dealing.

As reported, police carried out the raids in a bid to catch people suspected of committing theft-related offences. Officers recovered suspected stolen items as well as drugs and paraphernalia.

Later in the day, police carried out a crack house closure on a property in Westerdale Court.

The closure notice was served after a raid at the house in November when officers discovered Class A drugs and a man in his thirties was arrested on suspicion of dealing. …
