[bar] ARRY REDKNAPP today revealed that Tottenham's squad had been banned from holding a Christmas party.

Many clubs, including Manchester City, have already held parties but the memory of what happened two years ago, when a number of Spurs players had a night out in Dublin behind Redknapp's back, is still fresh in the manager's mind.

Redknapp does not understand why well-paid footballers should need to risk the dangers of having wild nights out as he believes the break in the summer should be sufficient.

He said: "If they can't behave themselves and if they've got a problem where they can't miss having a drink, with the money they're earning, there's something wrong with them. They can have a party in the summer, go away and enjoy themselves.

"They're getting fortunes, they've got great careers, they can have a great six weeks in the summer and come back ready for next season. Don't cause problems at Christmas.

"I don't want them going out having Christmas parties. What chance have you got? People are waiting for them, someone will take pictures, someone could just have their eyes closed and it looks like they're boozed so you don't need it.

"We've got a busy period, loads of games, we're training Christmas Day, Boxing Day, we play on the 27th and we'll be in the 28th. …
