Then in 2007 he invented a new surfing move.

This year he stormed onto the pro surfing tour and was crowned ASP Rookie of the Year.

Right now it must feel pretty good to be Julian Wilson.

aI'm excited to take what I learnt from this year into next year and see where it takes me,a he said.

Wilson is due to hit the Gold Coast at the end of February for the first event on the 2012 ASP world tour but for now he is taking a breather.

A keen dirt-bike rider and skate-boarder, Wilson is always in top physical condition but when it comes to surfing, he says being limber is vital to avoid injury.

He took an extended hiatus last year after breaking his foot shooting a surfing film before returning to win the first event of his comeback in a second-tier event in Sri Lanka. …
