ON DECEMBER 27, yes on Tuesday, I turn the ripe old age of 21 and as the apparent milestone approaches, I have been asked by all sorts of people what gift I would like to celebrate the anniversary of my birth.

It has also led to lots of these people exclaiming that I am one of the most difficult people to buy for.

I find this a little funny, mainly because if you get me anything food-related I will be as happy as Larry and shower you with cuddles and thanks.

A cookbook, a knife, a block of chocolate, a bottle of vinegar or some nice olive oil will all make my eyes light up.

However I would squeal with delight if presented with anything that calls the people behind the 4 Ingredients C[pounds sterling]cookbooksC[yen] out for making a mockery of the term recipe.

Although, that is another story for another time.

I am the girl that got my first chasseur French oven for my 16th birthday, along with a gigantic mortar and pestle, a KitchenAid for my birthday last year and a Magimix for Christmas a couple of years prior. …
