Taxi Fares Unchanged Rescue Chopper Busy Keep an Eye on Car Keys Know Your Retail Rights Libraries Opening Soon Celebrate the New Year

MACKAY travellers will not be slugged with taxi fare increases in the New Year following a review by the state's Taxi Council.

Transport Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said taxi fares would remain the same into the new year.

It was the first time in 18 months there has not been an increase.

CHRISTMAS Day was a busy one for the RACQ-CQ Rescue crew. In addition to a call to a fatal motorcycle crash north of Mackay Christmas afternoon, the crew airlifted a 39-year-old Mackay man involved in a motorbike crash in the Flaggy Rock area to Mackay with head and chest injuries. A woman also was airlifted from Hamilton Island.

IF YOU are at the beach be sure to keep an eye on your car keys. RACQ Insurance has warned Mackay residents it's common for vehicles to be stolen from beaches over the summer holiday period while their owners are swimming or sunbathing. RACQ Insurance car claims from last year revealed January was one of the riskiest periods. …
