GOING CHEAP: Two-storey home, great views, cool breezes, two balconies, comfy furnishings included.

Sounds the perfect place to live, and it is for a lucky Glenella-based sunbird who has just finished supersizing her home.

Fay Ekert, who shares the Glenella property with the illustrious sunbird, says she has never seen anything like it.

C[pounds sterling]I haven't seen a sunbird build a double nest before,C[yen] she said.

C[pounds sterling]It's a two-storey building, she's made a two-storey house.C[yen]

Mrs Ekert said sunbirds normally built a nest with one little hole, a veranda out the front, and a small awning above to keep the home dry and warm.

C[pounds sterling]But she has built a second door, another entrance above.C[yen]

As to the reason for the second access point, theories abound.

Could it be a decoy? Is it designed to further protect her young? Is it for sneaking home late? …
