HEATWAVE IS HEADED HERE Hot Days Set to Stay throughout January; after a Record Cool in December, Temperatures to Hit 35C

HEATWAVE conditions affecting southern states will soon arrive in Ipswich, with temperatures expected to top 35 degrees by early next week.

After the region experienced its third coldest December since 1941, early January predictions suggest the mild summer is coming to an end.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts the temperature will reach 33 degrees by Friday before climbing to 35 by Monday.

Early computer modelling suggests Ipswich residents could even swelter under extreme 38 degree maximums by the middle of next week.

Doug Fenton, a meteorologist for private weather forecaster Weatherzone, said high humidity would add to the uncomfortable summer conditions.
