DICKIE Ord wants Durham City's Scrooge-like Christmas to extend into the New Year as his side takes on Warrington Town this afternoon, writes JAMES HUNTER.

City conceded just one goal as they picked up seven points from three games over the festive holiday period, which came as a welcome relief to boss Ord after enduring six successive defeats and an 11-week wait for a shut-out.

And Ord is hoping his team can continue their new-found mean streak.

He said: "The back-to-back clean sheets against Harrogate and Clitheroe over Christmas were almost as pleasing as the wins themselves in some ways!

"However well we've been playing this season, we have been conceding goals and it was good to see us tighten up a bit at the back.

"The challenge now is to maintain that kind of solidity for the remainder of the season."

Skipper Ross Wilkinson is set to return from injury and reclaim his centre-back slot at Cantilever Park, with Ord adding: "Ross has been out over the Christmas and New Year period but he should be ready to play on Saturday. …
