Roads Don't Kill People

EVERY time I hear there is yet another fatality on the infamous Pacific Hwy, or anywhere in Australia, I cringe.

Another life lost because of government inertia to remedy people's behaviour while behind the wheel of a weapon of mass destruction.

Let's take the emotion out of this conversation.

My logical mind tells me roads do not kill people.

People kill and maim each other while driving for a number of reasons including not paying attention, distraction outside of vehicle, lack of experience, poor tyres, speeding, aggressive behaviour and driving under the influence.

The road is the innocent victim here and yet it is blamed for everything. It simply doesn't make sense.

To support my theory of alet's fix driver behavioura over alet's tar more of the planeta, Roads and Maritime Services released its annual road toll statistics for 2011 last week.

The road toll for 2011 is the second-lowest since 1908. …
