A MATURE woman who spat saliva on the faces of police officers has narrowly avoided going to jail.

A District Court judge yesterday described the behaviour of 41-year-old Yvette Louise Lallyette as adisgustinga and arevoltinga.

Police found Lallyette lying on the ground outside her Buderim unit yelling obscenities and laughing on April 6, 2010.

She was heavily intoxicated and officers told her to keep her voice down.

When she refused they arrested her. As officers moved Lallyette, she lunged forward and spat on the right side of a policeman's face, hitting him around the mouth and eye area.

She was handcuffed and put in the back of a police car.

But again she spat, this time hitting another officer on the face.

Maroochydore District Court heard the assault had caused asubstantial emotional hardshipa for the two officers, who had to undergo months of tests to check they had not contracted any disease from the saliva.

One officer is still awaiting the results of a hepatitis C test. …
