New Buses Ease Peak Hour Stress; Extra Services for Springfield

SPRINGFIELD commuters will have easier access to Richlands train station next month with a new TransLink bus service to begin operating.

Route 535 will begin on February 27, with eight morning and 10 afternoon services during peak times. The service will run as a temporary connection to and from Richlands station in preparation for the completion of Springfield train station.

The service will run between Orion Springfield Town Centre, University of Southern Queensland, Springfield Lakes and Richlands train station.

Public transport lobby group Rail Back on Track spokesman Robert Dow welcomed the addition of the new route.

aRail Back On Track, together with the community, has long campaigned for this route. It's particularly valuable because it is fast, direct and has seamless interchange with rail,a Mr Dow said.

aThat's the kind of bus route people want to see a direct, fast and frequent with a decent scope of hours and sticking to fast arterial roads. …
