Coast Side Falls Run Short in Thrilling Finish to Healy Cup

CRICKET: With the last pair at the crease and one ball left in the final match of the Ian Healy Cup junior cricket competition, the Sunshine Coast under-12 team needed one run to remain unbeaten and lift the trophy.

With some on the sidelines unable to watch, the plan was for the batsman to drop the ball at his feet and scamper through for a quick single.

Unfortunately, the ball went straight to a close-in fielder, who tossed it to the bowler's end and the bails were off in a shot.

With the scores tied, team manager Jeff Burnham said the disappointment of falling just one run short in the last match was put on hold until the result from the also-unbeaten Ipswich came in.
