Kids Draw the Line at Gallery

Article excerpt

Family fun success

THERE were pencils sketching right across the state last weekend during Queensland Art Gallery's Drawing Life for Kids on Tour program and locally more than 100 young people explored the artform at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum.

The event took place in several regional galleries across Queensland at the same time in celebration of Matisse: Drawing Life, currently on display at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.

Local artist Kim Scrimshaw led the participants through a variety of inspiring drawing activities, including still life, life drawing and self portraits.

The opportunity to start their own art journal was quickly snapped up by eager young artists with the provided My Art Journals seeing plenty of action on the day.

Drawing Life for Kids on Tour is proudly supported by the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation and The Children's Art Centre in Brisbane is sponsored by Santos.
