Reigning Champs in for Tough Time at Oz Day Event; Twenty20 Carnival Set to Entertain with Two Day's of Cricket Action

DEFENDING champions Doc's XI will come up against Hugh's XI and Matt's XI on day one of the Supa IGA Australia Day Carnival at Wheatvale tomorrow.

Teams have been drawn into pools of three for a round robin tomorrow. Each team will play two games at the one venue.

The one exception is the first game scheduled for Hamilton Oval has been moved to Yangan as the Warwick Little Athletics Centre has its weekly competition at 8.30am each Saturday at Hamilton Oval.

Doc's XI is a combination of players originally from Warwick plus some of their friends from Brisbane.

The team was initially organised by former Warwick representative left arm paceman Doc Bodimeade and since his death, Doc's XI has played annually in his memory.

Last year, Doc's XI won the carnival for the first time after being in the top eight at most carnivals in the past two decades.

While better known in Warwick for his rugby league, Australian oztag representative Lex Neal was the star of the show for Doc's XI last year. …
