AFTER reading your front page news regarding a care home for the elderly, I was so disgusted and upset to think that this day and age people are getting this awful treatment, not only here locally but all over the country. To bring a ray of sunshine to a lot of people, I would like to write a nice and comforting letter regarding care. My mother unfortunately was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007, aged 91. My sister and I cared for her as best we could which was hard because we couldn't be there 24 hours and it was such a worry.
Eventually we had to put her into care, it was awful for we felt we were abandoning her and felt so guilty.
We searched around for a care home and eventually fell in love with the Chesters Care Home in Low Fell and hoping our feelings about the home were correct mam moved in. To cut a long story short, my mother has never been so well looked after and has never once asked to go home or come out, which at first we fully expected. …
