Pupils Go around the World ... in Just FIVE Days; School Helps Broaden Minds in Fun-Filled Week

YOUNGSTERS at a Thornaby primary school travelled around the world in five days - all from the comfort of their classrooms.

In a colourful and exciting week, pupils at Christ the King RC Primary School, on Tedder Avenue, have learned all about other countries, cultures and religions with the school's One World Week.

School staff organised a funpacked but informative week, which saw pupils dressing up, learning to cook, playing new instruments and joining in with arts and crafts.

Deputy headteacher Gerard Eddy said: "When we come back in the first week after Christmas it can all feel a bit flat and depressing, but this year it's been nice to see the school full of colour and with a spark.

"We've tried new things and had lots of visitors from different cultures into school to talk to the children and show them things from their cultures. It's a great way for the children to learn. It's been fantastic."

Year 6 pupil Amber Bradley, 10, of Thornaby, said: "My favourite bit was helping with the cooking and preparing the ingredients. …
