WHERE there is a blow-up pool and a radio, you can bet that Triple J Hottest 100 will be playing.

For many Generation Ys, listening to Triple J on Australia Day has become a rite of passage.

This Australia Day Adrian Young and Daniel Warren will be tuning in to see what song will be voted number one.

Mr Young said the backyard Triple J party was popular with young people in Mackay.

aThere is not a huge range of radio stations. You either listen to Triple J or Hot FM,a Mr Young said.

aAnd from my point of view a lot of people I know listen to Triple J because there is a lot of Australian music played, and new Australian music.

aAll the good stuff Triple J filters out to commercial radio. I would rather listen to good new Australian music then American-produced music.
