I HAVE new tenants next door with three dogs that do not stop barking. My own experience with allowing pets was to replace carpets, curtains and the lawns. People should check requirements before moving to the Coast.

What's the problem?

YES, there are tenants who do the wrong thing in rental properties but more do the right thing. I would be wary of a very large dog but a cat or a small dog would be fine. If the tenant is willing to pay for a pest control firm to come in and treat the carpets etc and are also willing to have a professional carpet cleaner to do the same, why is there a problem?

SINCE properties are inspected when tenants vacate, I don't see what the problem is. Landlords can't expect to ask the exorbitant rents they do and then not accommodate the family pet, it's just ridiculous. Wake up people, families have pets and if you are in the business of profiting from supplying homes to families then you should be willing to include them. …
