Coloccini Is a Doubt - but Strikers Hope for a Rovers Return

ALAN PARDEW admits he is sweating on Fabricio Coloccini ahead of tomorrow night's clash with Brighton & Hove Albion - but could be set for a treble boost in time for Newcastle United's next Premier League game.

Pardew is expecting Coloccini to pull through after picking up a knock in training but, while he also confirmed that the Magpies have made measures to make sure that Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will be back on Tyneside in time for next Wednesday's journey to Blackburn Rovers.

The new No 9 and 15-goal Ba suffered agony in the African Cup of Nations after being dumped out at the first hurdle.

However, they must still remain in Equatorial Guinea for Sunday's encounter with Libya in Group A - both sides can't gain progress to the knockout stages, with the co-hosts and Zambia already through.

But assessing Coloccini's chances for Brighton, Pardew told the Chronicle: "Colo is a serious doubt for the game.

"I don't think it's an ongoing situation or a bad situation. …
