BILLINGHAM Synthonia's Wembley aspirations face an FA Vase acid test - and manager Michael Watson believes they can pass it with flying colours by carving Runcorn Town open on the break.

Tomorrow's fourth round replay in Cheshire arrives a week after the sides shared a 0-0 extra time draw at Central Avenue.

Chances aplenty were created despite the goalless scoreline, with speedy Synners creating the bulk of them without sticking any away.

The Green and Whites have won an outstanding 10 out of their 18 games in all competitions away from home this season, thanks in no small part to their ability to tuck up and counter.

And Watson sees no reason why they cannot make it win No 11 of the campaign if they can make the most of those assets in the rematch with the North Western Counties League leaders.

Asked what he thinks will tip the tie in Synners' favour, Watson said: "I think personally because we can play.

"It might be a different game for us down there on the counter attack and our away form this season has been brilliant because we do go on the counter attack.

"As long as we defend properly I'm pretty sure we can open them up and then hopefully the finishing touch will be a goal and the ball in the back of the net."

Synners beat Crook Town and Consett to reach the fourth round of the competition.

And although they have gone 210 minutes without netting after being unable to break down Runcorn on their own patch, they have not conceded in that time either and have scored goals galore throughout the campaign, including seven in an FA Cup extra preliminary round romp at Newton Aycliffe. …
