THE unique aspect of the Depression Support Network in Toowoomba is that those providing the help have been through it all themselves.

Operational for five years, DSN opens its doors at 9b Bell St just 12 hours a week, yet it receives about 100 people seeking help a month.

aWe are a not-for-profit organisation and we're all volunteers but so many people come to us because they know we've been down that road.a

Depression was still misunderstood, V said.

aIf someone has a broken leg or a broken arm, you know what's wrong because you can see it (the injury),a she said.

aBut because people can't see depression they can't understand it.

aYou don't choose depression, it chooses you and it doesn't discriminate.
