AFL: Greater Western Sydney has opted for players at opposite ends of the experience spectrum for their inaugural leadership group, with veterans Luke Power and youngsters Phil Davis and Callan Ward named co-captains.

C[pounds sterling]These guys are very dedicated and that's the type of player and leadership we want,C[yen] Giants' coach Kevin Sheedy said yesterday.

Sheedy revealed he had learnt from the successful co-captaincy structure employed by his club's crosstown rivals, the Sydney Swans.

C[pounds sterling]Sometimes you look at what somebody has done very well and you should learn from that lesson,C[yen] he said. C[pounds sterling]I think they've set up a very strong footy club, the character of the Swans' group, so that's something we had to learn pretty quickly about Sydney.C[yen]

Three-time Brisbane premiership player Power, 32, announced his retirement last year, but was coaxed back into playing by the Giants.
