Byline: Interview by Karen Dacre

NOT only is Lulu Kennedy the most amicable person in British fashion, she's also the closest thing it has to a fairy godmother. Since launching Fashion East -- a non-profit-making initiative designed to nurture new talent -- the 41-yearold has nurtured the careers of some of our most successful designers including Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll and Roksanda Ilincic. Here, the new MBE, who heads collaborative label Lulu & Co and is also revered for her show-stopping personal style, gives us her essential guide to the show season.

THE BRIGHT YOUNG ONES TO WATCH Simone Rocha is one to look out for. She's great at tailoring and has a feel for fabrics so I'm really looking forward to her A/W collection. Louise Gray and Michael van der Ham are also really exciting for me as I'm such a huge fan and love seeing their work go to the next level.

THE ESSENTIAL SHOW Central St Martins MA show. And then obviously all my Fashion East friends' shows. I've hardly missed any in 10 years. Jonathan, Roksanda (her shows are so elegant I feel like I'm at Paris Couture), Richard, Meadham Kirchhoff, Henry [Holland], Marios [Schwab] -- the list goes on. I wasn't feeling so clever the next morning at Roksanda's 9am show. Also, I semilive in The Nelson's Head pub off Columbia Road.

THE BIT OF BLING I tend to get my jewellery from Jordan Askill, Husam el Odeh, or antique finds on Hatton Garden.

THE DIY STYLISTS More and more designers are styling their own show, which I think is great. Panos Yiapanis and Nicola Formichetti are among my alltime heroes.

FOR A TOUCH OF SLAP Lucia Pica who does the makeup for the James Long show is a brilliant and beautiful artist. …
