Dean Shows Pace in Cowboys Win

FORMER Sarina flyer Rogan Dean showed his pace in a two-point win for the Cowboys Toyota Cup team over the Titans on Saturday.

Dean burst down the wing to score for the Cowboys in the first half, and was in the action again in the second when he made another break, to be brought down by the fullback just out from the try line.

However halfback Sam Foster was able to stroll over for a try from the play of the ball, giving the Cowboys a 32-24 lead.

In a thrilling finish, the teams then swapped tries to see the Cowboys finally win 36-34. The Titans missed a conversion after the bell which would have delivered a draw.

Coach Todd Wilson said Dean, who played one match for the Cowboys last season, was in line for the opening round against the Titans at Dairy Farmers Stadium on March 3.

aHe's certainly got pace to burn,a Wilson said.

The match may be costly for the Cowboys, with the Toyota Cup's leading points scorer Kyle Feldt touch-and-go for round one after injuring his knee. …
