A 16-medal haul has given more than a dozen Ipswich & District Athletics Club competitors a boost for the Australian Youth Games in Sydney from March 14-18.

EXPERIENCED Ipswich athletics coach Vic Pascoe is tipping some of his club charges to challenge for Commonwealth Games selection over the next five years.

Pascoe's prediction follows an impressive performance by a powerful Ipswich & District Athletics Club team at the Queensland Junior Championships over the weekend.

Regional club competitors teamed up to win 16 medals and produce a number of personal bests over the three-day meet at QE11.

Other medal winners were Connor McNamara, Majella Pearl, Madeline McGuire, Ashlee Stieler, Heather Burridge, Erika Berlin, Cassie Purdon, Kara-Lynn Hodges and Julien Smith.
