Dean's Ready to Work; Ipswich Dad Hitting the Streets in His Search for Job

A YAMANTO father of two has hit the streets in search of work after losing his job during a lengthy bout of illness.

Dean Gomez, 22, has applied for more than 80 jobs this week, in between working odd hours as a labourer and staking out the Cunningham Hwy with a large pink sign, appealing for someone to give him a job.

The labourer and forklift driver was infected with staph during a stay in hospital about a year ago.

He said he lost his previous full- time job due to constant medical appointments, which interfered with his ability to work consistent hours.

aI also lost about 30kg in the last year,a Mr Gomez said.

aObviously it's not cheap when you have to take so many tablets all the time and it was emotionally exhausting for me too. …
