FLESH will flash past in a fleet of naked and painted cyclists in Nimbin on Saturday.

The celebratory exposure of adangly bitsa will raise awareness of the vulnerability of bike riders and pedestrians as part of the annual World Naked Bike Ride.

Organiser Mijimberi, a teacher from Nimbin, said the ride encourages participants to strip down and ride clothes-free.

aIn a regional area the reality is people do need to use cars, but the ride exposes our vulnerabilities as bike riders and hitchhikers,a Mij- inberi said.

aI believe in sustainability and finding alternatives to cars a alter- natives that are softer on the environment,a he said.

This is the fourth year of the ride in Nimbin. The first World Naked Bike Ride was held in 2004 in 10 countries with the aim of promoting human-powered transport and delivering a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world.

The riders meet up, strip down and often paint their bodies before riding in a group to the amusement of bystanders. …
