Mum's Patience Finally Runs out as Son Is Jailed

A LONG-SUFFERING mum's patience ran out when her drug addict son stole her purse and burgled the pub where she worked.

Craig Roddam stole his mother's purse from her handbag then went to the Market Tavern pub in Thornaby, of which she was manageress.

He took the pub keys and pounds 50 cash on the night of October 23 to 24 last year, Teesside Crown Court heard.

The pub was burgled with no sign of forced entry and pounds 260 was missing from the safe, said prosecutor Alexander Menary.

Roddam, 22, was seen on CCTV from the pub. His fingerprints were found on the glasses behind the bar from which pounds 18 was stolen.

He was arrested later in the day with three wraps of heroin. The pub keys were never recovered.

In a statement, his mother later said she was upset and angry that he had jeopardised her livelihood.

She said she didn't like her son getting into trouble but he only had himself to blame.

She said she'd given him many chances in the past but would not put up with it anymore. …
