NERVOUS? It's starting to get close to the tax year-end and you could be wondering if you should use your equity ISA allowance.

Equity markets around the world are volatile and the Greek situation is still far from resolved. Traditionally found to be a more safe haven are Government Bonds. However, the yield on Gilts is around 2%, guaranteeing you a negative return (as inflation is higher).

So what's a possible alternative? You need to think about investing in companies offering products or services for which the demand will remain high or indeed will increase. Global energy is a perfect example. Just think about it - at present in the US there are 809 cars per 1000 people. In China the number is 37 per 1000. Demand for fuel is on the increase. While the global energy index was slightly down over the last calendar year, the price of oil increased by 16% (Source: Artemis).

As emerging markets prosper the demand for energy will increase. Companies involved in oil and gas exploitation will grow around the world. …
