SCATTERED showers didn't dampen the enthusiasm of more than 1200 revellers who ate, drank and danced into Saturday evening at the third annual Blues, Brews and BBQs.

The thunder of hooves down the famous Clarence River Jockey Club main straight whet the appetites of the enthusiastic crowd from 11.25am, when the first of the seven-race Yamba Cup Day signalled party time.

Clarence River Jockey Club CEO Bradley de Martino Rosaroll said the day was a success, with numbers through the gate on par with last year.

aIt's a great event with good atmosphere. It's something that we don't have a lot of in the Clarence Valley and I think that keeps the crowds coming back,a he said.

The tunes kicked off at 2pm when Byron Bay's answer to Bob Dylan, Dan Hannaford, played his unique blend of blues and country music delivered from the heart.

Blues music continued until 7pm with Thrillbilly Stomp, The Walters, Blind Lemon and One Foot in the Groove keeping the audience grooving. …
