TOOWOOMBA policeman Senior Sergeant Russell Reynolds' transformation from the thin blue line to the yellow brick road will be complete when The Wizard of Oz opens at the Empire Theatre later this month.

The Toowoomba police prosecutions court brief manager, Snr Sgt Reynolds spends most of his time during the day reviewing police court cases.

However, after some urging from his family the court briefs that fill his desk have been joined by Wizard of Oz stage scripts.

C[pounds sterling]I auditioned for the part of Tinman after friends and family suggested I would enjoy a life on the stage,C[yen] Sgt Reynolds explained.

C[pounds sterling]I hadn't been on stage since high school, a very long time ago, and I'd never auditioned for anything.
