ALAN PARDEW today insisted his Newcastle United troops need no reminding of their task in hand ahead of Sunday's home clash with Norwich City. The Magpies go into the game without a win since February 5, when Aston Villa were beaten 2-1 at St James' Park.

And while United have stayed in the top six despite harvesting just two points from the last 12 available, the Magpies are enduring one of their worst patches of the campaign.

Pardew - who saw his side beaten at the death against Arsenal on Monday night - sees the encounter with the Canaries as a real chance to reignite their season.

He told the Chronicle: "I think our fans will be disappointed, and what we need is a pick-me-up now.

"We need to get a win - we're well aware of that.

"No-one needs to tell us. "We've got Norwich at home, and it looks like a great opportunity." But Pardew is acutely aware that nothing is a given in the Premier League.

Indeed, even a 2-0 cushion against relegation-haunted Wolverhampton Wanderers could not bag a victory two weeks ago, while the last home game against Sunderland turned into a dogfight. …
