Bush Dancing's Fun but Not All Kids Are So Lucky

IS IT all homework and no play for our kids?

It appears life is becoming more serious for some youngsters, with a new study finding 45% of children don't play every day.

However, that's definitely not the case at Mackay West State School.

When the Daily Mercury popped in to interview some students about the issue this week, it got a first-hand introduction to the playful teaching tactics of physical education teacher Russell Holmes.

Violin in hand, he and his Year 4 and 5 students showed us their latest skills: bush dancing. And it looked like brilliant fun.
