REDCAR Bears' highly encouraging 48-36 opening night win over Newcastle was marred by a heat 15 crash in which Matej Kus suffered a fractured wrist.

The former Czech champion tangled with Richie Worrall going into the second bend and appeared to trap his left arm in his rear wheel.

Ostergaard and Justin Sedgmen romped to 5-1s in their opening two heats as the Bears built up a 27-15 lead after seven races.

And fellow winter capture Max Dilger caught the eye with a gutsy display that thrilled a big South Tees Motorports Park crowd.

He was guilty of trying too hard when he fell in his first race while battling with the Worrall twins and was twice warned early on for spinning at the start.

But he put that behind him to give an eye-catching performance in which he always looked eager to get stuck in. …
