Police Officers Ready to Tackle Big League Event

RUGBY LEAGUE: The boys in blue will swap their uniforms for rugby jerseys when they roll into Airlie Beach for the Queensland Police Service Rugby League State Championships on Monday.

More than 200 police officers will visit the region including former NRL, Queensland Cup, Super League and Fox Cup players who will help make up a total of eight teams.

Teams include the Muddies representing Logan and the Gold Coast, the Crocs from the Sunshine Coast, the Razorbacks from Central Queensland, the Far North Queensland Marlins, Northern Stingers from Townsville, the Mt Isa Mongrels and Southern Boars from Roma and St George.

It will be the first time the event has been played in the region, with the first games to be held at the Whitsunday Sports Park on Tuesday.

North Rockhampton's Constable John Borland will line up for the Central Queensland Anglo American Razorbacks next week, confident his side can make it to the finals. …
