Light at End of the Tunnel; Goosen Says Falcons Can Conquer Travel Sickness

GREG Goosen is backing Newcastle Falcons to overcome their travel sickness tomorrow night in Worcester. The Falcons take on the Warriors still in search of their first Aviva Premiership away win since a 22-5 triumph at Leeds Carnegie over a year ago.

Between then and now they have lost in all 13 of their league encounters on the road, but can ill afford a 14th as they enter the final five rounds of their survival scrap. Goosen said: "No one goes away from home wanting to lose, and I definitely think we have put the steps in place now to win away from Kingston Park.

"We have not won away in the league all season as yet, but we are going there with a lot of hard work behind us and confident of getting the result we all know we need."

The 28-year-old full-back has touched down five tries in his debut season with the club after joining from French outfit Racing Metro, although the last of those came five months ago in the LV= Cup loss at London Irish.

Looking to gain revenge on a Worcester team which drew 17-17 in Newcastle back in November, the South African said: "I played in that game, and they are a very tough physical team.

"I have never been to their stadium but I hear it is a tough place to play, and they have been going really well there.

"They turned over Saracens, the Premiership champions, there a few weeks ago, and they will obviously be looking to play well in front of their home crowd. We know what is coming, but we are just worrying about what we are going to do."

The Warriors combine the league's lowest try-scoring record with a strong defensive resolve, Goosen stating: "They are a good solid team and they try to limit the chances of making a mistake.

"We are expecting them to be really physical from what we have seen, and I am sure tomorrow night will be no different. …
