THE Casino-Murwillum- bah rail line feasibility study will be led by the Gold Coast Rapid Transit Project's director.

North Coast Minister Don Page announced Tim Poole would alead a broad investigation into the rail line and the public trans- port needs of local communitiesa.

aThe feasibility study ... will be completed later this year,a Mr Page said.

Trains On Our Tracks president Karin Kolbe would argue the study's findings are a foregone conclusion.

She said 90% of respondents to a 2007 study would use the line at least once a month if it was not only resurrected, but linked to the Gold Coast.

The Southern Cross University survey found 72% would use the 2004-cancelled Casino-Murwillumbah service for the purposes of shopping, education, employment, health services and sport or recreation.
