A 10-YEAR-OLD sports car which had not racked up enough kilometres to earn its first service was one of the casualties of flooding at Cotton Tree.

The mint condition MX5 convertible was submerged in the basement car park of a Sixth Ave unit complex after water flooded in from the street during heavy rain.

Owner Gillian Hall said residents had been unable to get their cars out because they could not open the security door.

The car park was fully submerged after the pump normally used to drain water failed.

Ms Hall said there had been little else residents could do as the water surged down Sixth Ave and into the car parks.

aThat water, I've never seen anything like it,a Ms Hall said.

Ms Hall and other Cotton Tree residents voiced their dissatisfaction with drainage in the area.

Ian Jost, who manages Paradis Pacifique two doors up from Ms Hall in Sixth Ave, said the two nearby drains were not enough to clear water from the road in heavy rain. …
