Helping Find Cure for a Little Girl's Illness

LITTLE Unaiza Bhatti is heading to Parliament to call for greater funding into finding a cure for the condition she suffers.

The youngster was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes two years ago and since then she has had to battle to control her illness so that she can lead a normal life.

Her parents Arshia, 28, and Asim, 36, an IT coordinator, have helped their seven-year-old daughter cope with diabetes but they hope that one day a cure will be found.

Next month, Unaiza, of Medomsley, County Durham, is going to Westminster to urge the Government to boost money available for research into the chronic illness.

Mum Arshia, a corporate services officer, said: "It is so important that awareness of Type 1 diabetes is increased and more research is done into the condition - that's why we're attending the event in London.

"When Unaiza was diagnosed with diabetes it was life-changing for her and the family. She has had to grow up quickly as she has had to understand the condition. …
