IF YOU ask Kylie Patchett to describe her new life, she will probably say it is juicy, nourishing and delicious.

The Sunshine Coast-based

forensic scientist turned holistic health guru now spends her days preaching the powers of healthy living and helping women with busy schedules keep their health on track.

Kylie said her former life as a scientist had been interesting but, ultimately, not what she really wanted to do.

She said her career had seen her involved in DNA typing for Queensland Heath before moving to a managerial position in the private medical sector.

aI ended up in medical management for years and years and I saw how things didn't work,a Kylie said.

aMedical science is all about making money from people who are already sick and I really wanted to be part of the prevention.a

Since leaving corporate life, Kylie has set up the Tall Poppy Project a a business that she says is all about women taking back control of their lives.

aI decided I was going to start a business that deals with the prevention of health problems,a she said.

aThe mission of the Tall Poppy Project is for women to take control of how they want their lives to look.a

Kylie said the challenge was to change the way women saw their health and how it fitted into a busy lifestyle.

aI talk a lot about designing your own delicious life,a she said.

aWhat I tell people is that moving every day, doing something that you love to do, connecting with friends and family, having juicy relationships, having a spiritual practice a all of those things lead to good health.a

The death of Kylie's father last year was the spark she needed to usher in her career change.

aIt had to take me losing Dad and losing that professional identity to actually be able to find my way out of it and that's what I talk to people about,a she said.

After an emotionally turbulent time in her life, Kylie was left battling her own health demons.

aI got really unhealthy myself because when you're looking after somebody else, you don't look after yourself,a she said. aI've always been quite healthy and done a lot of nutrition training. …
